FIRST CAPITOL OF INDIANA TERRITORY
This building was occupied by the Territo-
rial Government and was situated on the
south side of Main Street, midway between
Second and Third Street. About 100 years
ago it was moved to Third Street near Har-
rison Park and used as a residence. In 1919
the Fortnightly Club of Vincennes, through
public donation, purchased the building and
moved it to its present site in Harrison Park
where it now stands restored in its original
condition. The upper floor was the meeting
place of the legislative body and the lower
was occupied by the governor and the secre-
tary of the Territory.
