The SPINNING WHEEL is located on historic Herds-
man's Isle, heading the harbor of Southport. The old
grist mill was one of the few operated by using the
tide. The original building was partially burned by the
British during the Revolutionary War' but rebuilt on
the same timbers and continued as a mill until early
in nineteen hundred.
