Near Louisville, Mississippi
Nanih Waiya, or Bending Hill, in Win-
ston County, is the sacred mound of
the Choctaws. Nanih Waiya Mound is
oblong in shape, 40 feet in height. It was probably
used as a burial ground and place of worship by
the early Choctaws. It is estimated that this mound
dates to the 5th Century A. D.
