Kansas City occupies a site unique
among the cities of the world-situated
at the confluence of two great rivers,
the Kaw and the Missouri, its "bottom
lands" are given over to stock yards,
railway yards, immense jobbing houses,
and extensive factories. It has over
1200
establishments,
manufacturing
with an aggregate capital of $100,000,-
000, and employing over 40,000 people.
The factory output is about $250,000,-
000 per year. Part of this district in
the East Bottom is given over to fac-
tories; farther out there are a number
of small intensively worked truck
farms.
