THE HOME OF "YANKEE DOODLE"
This ancient residence is still standing (1906) a little west of East Avenue,
on Oyster Shell Point Road, and occupied by Col. Thos. Fitch, (eldest son of Gov. Thomas
Fitch) who was nick-named as above from an occurrence while he was commanding his troops
in New York state about 1755.
