Playing for Life. Wandering packs of Wolves
are among the terrors of the steppes. The picture
represents an actual incident. A travelling musician
was pursued by one of these packs and in his terror
commenced to play his clarionet iu the hopes of driving
them away! He was successful in restraining them from
making an attack, and continually playing and retreating,
he eventually reached a place of safety. History records
it as his finest performance !
