The Marble Arch was originally erected by George IV.
at the entrance to Buckingham Palace, but was removed to
Hyde Park in 1851, and now serves as the principal
entrance to the Park from Oxford Street. Near to the
Marble Arch, where now is Connaught Place, formerly
stood Tyburn Tree, the place of public execution prior
to 1783.
