Looking west on Park Ave., one of the two
main business streets in Lake Wales, Florida,
with the Walesbilt, a ten story modern hotel
in the background. Lake Wales has grown
from a settlement of only three or four houses
in 1913 to a town of over 5,000 people in 1940
The famous Mountain Lake Singing Tower
ore 1877
about four miles from the center of town. The MC
clock tower at the left was a gift from the 91
Misses Sarah and Anne Kolb, winter residents
at Mountain Lake.
