WAR MEMORIAL STADIUM
Greensboro, North Carolina
HH
DOUBLE DUTY – Carolina League action at War Memorial
Stadium dates back to 1945. In 1979 a South Atlantic (Sally)
League team moved into the ballpark, uniquely shaped like a long-
stemmed backwards "J.” Seating capacity is about 7,500. For
several years the facility doubled as a track. A portion of the turn
remains visible beyond the LFfence, which was removed when the
oval was being used. The Greensboro franchise annually attracts
strong attendance. War Memorial was among the ballparks
visited in the 1988 film “Bull Durham.”
