The London Coffee House
Additional Details:
The London Coffee House, located at 15 Central Street and now occupied by Red's Sandwich Shop, was the gathering place of the Patriots before the American Revolution. Heated discussions took place adjacent to the huge fireplace in regard to the oppressive British taxes. Tourists and townspeople enjoy excellent food at moderate price in this historic building. The house was given to the Salem Fraternity, the oldest Boy's Club in America, in 1903 by Caroline Emmerton, the mother of tourism in Salem Dexter Press, Inc. |
