A cablegram reports the arrival of the S, S
"Resolute" at Manila today, on time, after Ca
smooth passage from Hong Kong, with everyone
on board well and enjoying zestfully the entertain-
ments provided, which included lectures, a dance
on the broad, gaily decorated decks, and a St.
Patrick's Day feast, not to emphasize unduly the
soothing 80 degrees temperature supplied by the
Weather Department, while we at home were facing
those icy blasts.
FOR CORRESPONDECE
The Shore Excursions at and from Hong Kong
were carried through happily, as usual, and today,
tomorrow and Sunday your friends are cheerfully
observing America's Far Eastern experiment in
colonial government in The Philippines before
moving on to picturesque Borneo.
UNITED AMERICAN LINES.
MANILA, made famous in a day the world over by Admiral
Dewey's immortal naval battle, is the most important port
in the Philippine Islands, now a part of the United States.
The older part of the city of Manila is surrounded by moss-
grown walls. Richly ornamented churches will attract the
attention of the visitor. Fort Santiago still stands guard.
