Your friends are now in India, the climax of the World
Cruise, a cablegram having just been received ad s
arrival of the "Resolute" at Bombay on time, this morning
after a smooth passage.

A Ball was given in honor of the "Resolute's" passengers
at the delightful Galle Face Hotel in Colombo while throngs of
local residents admired the beauty and luxurious appointments
of the "Resolute". And on the short voyage to Bombay the
entertainments continued with Lectures, Travel Talks and
Deck Dances to the music of the modern dance orchestra.
During the coming week nearly all the passengers will thrill
to the world-famous beauty of the Taj Mahal at Agra and the
other great architectural monuments of the Moguls, who
"designed like Titans and finished like jewelers"; and all
are visiting the remarkable rock temple Caves of Elephanta
and enjoying the teeming native life of Bombay.
Then, April 23rd, with Egypt as a delightful interruption,
they will be Homeward Bound!
UNITED AMERICAN LINES
BOMBAY, India, came into the possession of England in
1661 as part of the dowry of Catherine of Braganza. Pre-
viously it was held by the Portuguese, who fortified it to
protect their rick trafficking with Cathay. Bombay proper
is on an island. Neighboring shores held the once rich and
populous cities of Kenery and Elephanta, now in gigantic
ruins.
