No. 1. JOSEPH SMITH HOMESTEAD-was or
iginally a log house, built about 1826 by James
Jones, an Indian agent, who sold it to Joseph
Smith in 1839. The Prophet lived there until
the spring of 1843, when he moved into QG
Mansion House.
No. 2. MANSION HOUSEāBuilt in 1842 and 30 PEMIS SPACE FOR ADRESS ONLY
1843 through revelation. Home of the Prophet
the time he was killed at Carthage Ill., 1937
June 27, 1844. Lumber sawed near LaCrosse,
Wisc., and rafted down the river.
No. 3. THE NAUVOO HOUSE-A revelation
was received Jan. 17, 1841, by Joseph Smith to
build it and call it the Nauvoo House. An
association was incorporated Feb. 15, 1841. It
was never finished. Original plan was for three
stories and basement.
