New Jersey The Nation's Playground U. S. A. Beat The Depression! By building The Depression Palace (The Strangest House in the World). In 1929 George Daynor arrived in Vineland, N. J., stone broke. He settled on an automobile dump in a mosquito laden swamp. The ground was worth only one dollar an acre. Working alone and with only his two hands he built out of the clay and auto parts a beautiful palace of unusual architecture, (It took him 3 years.)
