OLD QUAKER MEETING HOUSE and FIRE-PROOF BUILDING
Fair Street, near Main Street
Containing its Unique Collection of Articles connected with the Early History of the
Island, the Society of Friends and the Whaling Industry. The great 17-foot Sperm Whale's Jaw,
said to be the largest on exhibition anywhere; models of the "Camels" used to lift the Whale-
ships over the Harbor Bar; Whaling Implements and Craft; Ship Models, Scrimshaw Work made
on the Whalers; the famous Wax Model of the Dauphin of France; Log Books, Indian Relics,
Old China, Glass and Pewter, Books, Paintings, Engravings; Quaint and Interesting Curios
brought from Overseas, and Mementoes of the Olden Time.
THE OLDEST HOUSE
on Sunset Hill, off West Chester Street
known as "The Horseshoe House" from the brick horseshoe in the chimney supposed to have
been designed to keep off witches. This fine example of an early colonial mansion, built in
1686 for Jethro Coffin on the occasion of his marriage to Mary Gardner, has recently been com-
pletely restored under expert direction without impairing but rather reviving its old-time
character and charm.
THE OLD MILL
on Mill Hills, Southwest of the Town
Built in 1746 and the last survivor of four such mills which formerly stood on these hills.
Admission to Each, 25 cents.
A visit to either or all of these exhibits will well repay the tourist or visitor interested
in the Island's past or in the life of the old days.
Membership in the Association costs One Dollar a Year. All who are interested are in-
