Greetings from Cato, Kansas One of the oldest buildings in Crawford County. This building made of bricks fashioned from clay taken a short distance southeast and fired in kilns on the spot was built by Captain Peter Smith soon after the Civil War. Living quarters were on the left with a store serving pioneer residents on the right. Lodge meetings were held on the upper story.
