State Senator Walter H. Jones is a dynamic,
dedicated legislator who has utilized his
talents as a lawyer, teacher and business-
man in building a career of public service.
He has served the state for 10 years in the As-
sembly and two four-year terms in the Senate,
where he now serves as Republican Majority
leader.
He was an assistant professor of law before en-
tering public life, and his extensive educational
background resulted in his sponsorship of the
legislation which made Rutgers our State Uni-
versity.
He has been in the forefront of all efforts aimed
at solving our pressing transportation prob-
lems as well as the fight for tax relief for those
forced to pay out-of-state income taxes.
He is credited with successfully guiding the pas-
sage of much of the civil rights measures now
law in New Jersey.
He pioneered the study of the problems of our
older citizens and created the Division on
Aging in New Jersey.
He represents both labor and management as
one of New Jersey's most prominent attorneys
and his fairness has earned him the respect of
both sides.
