There are 15,000 Railway Postal Clerks employed on the railway trains in the United States. A Railway Postal
Clerk is required to know at a glance the correct dispatch of every piece of mail passing through his hands. To
qualify himself for this work he is required to pass examinations on from 3,000 to 15,000 post offices at frequent in-
tervals. The average grade for the 37,171 examinations of the past year was 98.60 per cent.
