The three hour drive of 12ยน/2 miles through the
Merced River Canyon from El Portal is delightful.
The road climbs and twists and turns along the
river course, until the whole magnificent Valley
appears in view, Bridal Veil Falls on the right, El
Capitan on the left, passing many other prominent
points of interest.
