Stitt, of Baltimore, has made for the covers of the Baltimore and Ohio Magazine for the Centenary Year of the railroad, now being celebrated. It depicts in the foreground the "York," built by Phineas Davis, of York, Pa., and winner of a prize of $4,000 offered in 1830 by the directors of the Baltimore and Ohio for the best locomotive sub- mitted for practical work on the railroad.
