The Haymarket Square is located along west Randolph Street from Des Plaines to north Sangamon Street, 5 city blocks, and is lined with produce commission houses. Here the truck gardeners bring in and dispose of their products, the scene during the morning hours being animated in the extreme. The famous Haymarket Riot, in which several policemen were killed by dynamite bombs, occured here on May 4th, 1868.
