1880 TRAIN
HILL CITY, S. D.
You'll see scores of black-and-white roadside signs
across South Dakota and in neighboring states,
bearing the now-famous profile of the 1880 Train,
which operates the oldest steam locomotives in
America. Five times daily, from mid-June till Labor
Day, Klondike Casey, former Alaskan locomotive,
pulls its old-time narrow gauge cars on the 10-mile
round trip from Hill City, S. D., in the 1960's, to
Oblivion, Dakota Territory, in the 1880's. Unlike any
other ride, anywhere!
