The old Sunset Highway and Spokane's new Freeway
are portrayed in this impressive photo looking east-
ward toward the heart of Spokane. The new high-
way, part of the trans-continental Interstate 90 be-
ing completed by the Washington Department of
Highways, speeds motorists between the Inland Em-
pire and Puget Sound. Pine trees and beautiful basalt
rock formations divide the Freeway west of Spokane.
