OCONALUFTEE INDIAN VILLAGE
Cherokee, North Carolina
A re-created 200-year-old Cherokee Indian community
where the visitor can see what life was like before the
white man tamed the American wilderness. This is one
of the earliest known types of Cherokee home, a struc-
ture of woven river cane and covered with clay. The
village is open daily from May through October.
