STREET SCENE
Mesilla, New Mexico
Three centuries ago, Mesilla was a flourishing Indian
Settlement, a stopover for the Conquistadores on their
treks northward to Santa Fe. In more recent years, its
colorful historical role has included the Capitol of
Arizona & New Mexico territories after the Gadsen
Purchase in the village plaza in 1853. "Billy the Kid"
walked these streets during his short life and was on
trial here in 1881. History was lived all about you.
I come see.
