WEST POINT, in California's Mother Lode, was
founded by Kit Carson, celebrated its Centennial Plus,
on July 19 to 21, 1968. Burned down twice - was re-
built. Became townsite in 1878. In 1949 Vince Bueno
purchased the Sierra Mercantile and Hotel Building,
pictured here. Mining- Logging were principal indus-
tries now retirement area. Is well known for good
fishing and hunting.
