American Airlines operates a large fleet of the popular widebody tri-jet. The fleet includes 49 DC-10-10 (including 3 Extended Range models with three GE CF6-6K engines) powered by three GE CF6-6K engines and seating 34 in First Class and 256 in Coach. Another seating configuration seats, 16 in First Class and 297 in Coach. AA also operates ten longer range (but slightly smaller) DC-10-30 aircraft with the extra center main gear. this model is powered by two GE CF6-50C2 engines and seats either 16 in First Class and 297 in Coach or 28 in First Class. 36 in Business Class and 180 in Coach (the latter is designed for the longer overseas flights) AA also currently leases three ex-Western DC-10-10s from Scanair. |
