Pecos still supplies the need of ranches-but
recent developments in oil has added new
buildings and modernity to an old-time cow-
town. To the north is the Red Bluff Irrigation
Project, which waters 60,000 acres. The Irri-
gation Project has added materially to Pecos
prosperity. In the vicinity are deposits of
gypsum, sulphur, silver and copper.
