from downtown Detroit on U. S. 16, the park
covers 4500 acres including 1200-acre Kent Lake
and the winding Huron River. Major activities
include picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, na-
ture hiking, and winter sports. Rental boats and
boat launching and docking facilities are available
and two 1000-foot swimming beaches are provid-
ed. The "Island Queen", a 60-passenger stern-
wheel excursion boat, make scheduled trips around
the lake leaving from the Boat Launching Dock.
