Humphreys County, the second county to be estab-
lished in West Tennessee, was formed by Act of
Legislature on Nov. 14, 1819. It was named for Perry
W. Humphreys who was active in political and com-
munity service 1807-1836. It is one of the largest and
most diversified counties of Tennessee. Bordering the
famous Kentucky-Tennessee Lake and Dick River, it
offers the best in recreational facilities and unusual
hunting opportunities.
