TITAN MISSILE IN PROPULSION WIND TUNNEL ARNOLD ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT CENTER Tullahoma, Tennessee MISSILE FLIGHT ON-THE-GROUND. This is a scale model of the U. S. Air Force's TITAN intercontinental ballistic missile installed in the 16-foot transonic test section of the Propulsion Wind Tunnel, one of the three major laboratories of the Arnold Engineering Development Center, mid-way between Chattanooga and Nashville, Tennessee. The missile, equipped with burning rocket engines, can be tested at conditions simulating speeds up to 1,400 mph and to nearly 100,000 feet.
