THE HOTEL
The O. Henry was
named for the bril-
liant writer of short
stories whose birth-
place was Greensboro
It has 300 rooms, each
with private bath,
radio reception; and
other modern com-
forts. It has a garage
and parking service.
Perhaps its proudest
boast is of its local
and regional reputa-
tion for friendliness,
in a congenial atmos-
phere characteristically
Southern. Of its 300 rooms,
89 per cent are priced at $3
and less, and 69 per cent at
the minimum rate of $2.50,
single.
THE CITY
Greensboro,"Pivot of
the Piedmont," is a
city of 53,569 popula-
tion. Here the main
east-west highway of
the state crosses a
main north-south
road making Greens-
boro a ranking com-
mercial center and a
focal point for all
tourists.
Greensboro's prim-
ary importance to the
Piedmont and to the
Southeast is econom-
ic, in its manufactures (chief-
ly textiles) and commerce;
but it is also an educational
center of note, the seat of
two important colleges for
women.
