LUQUILLO, PUERTO RICO
LUQUILLO fue fundado en 1797 y su nombre viene
del vocablo indio YUQUIYU. En los casi dos siglos
de su fundacion, Luquillo se forjado un nombre de
comunidad progresista, con elegantes centros turisti-
cos, industrias y comercios. Goza de preciosas playas,
magnifica plaza publica, bella Iglesia de San José,
Casa del Ayuntamiento y la moderna Farmacia Olga
(en la foto).
The town of Luquillo was founded in 1797 and its
name comes from the indian name of YUQUIYU
(pronounced: yoo-keh-yooh). Its magnificent beaches
and tourist resorts, as well as industries, make it an
important center for the tourism industry of Puerto
Rico. Life, as in most small towns, centers around the
Plaza. This Plaza is surrounded by quaint San José
Church, City Hall and modern Farmacia Olga. "Farm-
acias" in Puerto Rico are like the town drug stores
in the States.
