Mermaid Room, Tacoma Hotel. Standing on a bluff
above the water-front, and overlooking the beautiful bay
and picturesque mountains, is the handsome Tacoma
Hotel. One of its many attractive features is the lobby,
treated entirely from a marine standpoint. The heavy
pillars are surmounted by caps adorned with figures of
mermaids, owing to which it has been called the "Mer-
maids' Room," and from this fact also the hotel derives the
name "Mermaids' Inn."
