Yellow Thunder is physically a magnificent repre-
sentative of the Sioux, the largest and most intelligent
Indian tribe in the United States. The Sioux are now
known as a "prairie tribe," but there is reason to believe
that they once roamed not only throughout a large por-
tion of the Middle West, but also on the south Atlantic
slope of the United States. By reason of their superior
numbers, the Sioux have always exercised lordship over
all neighbouring tribes.
