FRIEND: It's a little early for Easter Cards, but it's better too
early than too late, and good news is always welcome. Here
is the news: We have decided to try the "Boys' World" in our
Sunday-school for the next three months. It is a weekly paper for boys
and young men only. A rousing serial story, "The Silver Lining," will begin
next Sunday, April 4th, when these papers will be given out for the first time in
our school. I am sending you this postal so that you may not miss the first chapter. If you
meet any of the other boys, please tell them about it, as they may not have heard.
THE BOYS' WORLD is a large, eight-page illustrated weekly paper, printed in colors,
and everything in it is for boys. It wouldn't suit the girls at all. It is brimful of both
long and short stories, and news about subjects in which all up-to-date boys are inter-
ested. Some of the regular departments are: "Science and Invention," "Sports and Games,"
"How to Make Things," "How to Earn Money," "Boy Heroes," "Successful
story
Boys," "Boys' Clubs,' "Getting Ready for Life,' "What is Going On in the
World," "Prize Puzzles," etc. Besides the serial and the regular departments,
the paper given out next Sunday will contain "The Whistling Swans,"
of 116 swans that were carried over Niagara Falls, one of which was rescued
by a boy. "Harry Palmer and the Buffalo Trail," the story of a boy who led
an encampment over a river ford and how he did it. "A Great Village for
Boys," with splendid illustrations. "Home Exercises," or practical ways of
keeping "in condition" for the athletic boy.
The papers given out each Sunday will
enough pointers on the things you like to do,
and up-to-date news, to last you a week.
Please be on hand next Sunday, rain or shine. After you see the papers you will come
every Sunday. And don't forget the other boys. I want all who can to be present next
Sunday, so that I will know how many papers to order for the future.
Yours sincerely,
Long Branch
