SOUVENIR POST GARD
Still More Covered Bridges
One 400 Feet Long at Northampton,
N. Y., Is Doomed
To the New York Herald Tribune:
I have read with interest your edi-
torial and the letters on covered bridges.
There is no larger covered bridge in
the State of New York to-day that I
know of than the one across the Sac-
andaga River at Northampton, N. Y.
This bridge was built in 1814 and is
still in use. Made of hewn pine, it is
more than 400 feet long. The Conk-
lingville reservoir, shortly to be com-
pleted, requires its removal.
this bridge could be preserved.
I wish
