Hoyt Hotel 614 N.W. Hoyt St. Portland, Oregon 87209 Visit the beautiful Barbary Coast and the magnificent Roaring 20's. Featured in the Men's Room adjoining the Roaring 20's are replicas of the Manneken Boy, made by the famous sculptor Francois Duquesnoy as a reward to the finder of his lost son - the pose to be as the boy was found. Hidden during the 1695 bombardment, the statue was found and kidnapped by the British. Later, taken by the French, Louis XV bestowed him with a gold embroidered suit. Now, the statue has quite a collection of suits, which he wears on ceremonial occasions - many given by American and British forces after World War II. Mike Roberts |
