THE TUNKHANNOCK VIADUCT
This bridge, sometimes called the Nicholson Bridge,
is one of the wonders of the world and located at
Nicholson, Pa., in the Endless Mountains. Built in
1912-1915, it has a 34 foot wide road bed for the
double track of the Lackawanna Rail Road. The two
center piers are 300 feet in the ground. In the
building of this bridge, over 163,000 cubic yards of
concrete were used.
