Front:
200-Ton Drive Shaft, Grand Coulee Dam
This giant shaft 44 inches in diameter and nearly 75 feet
long delivers power from a 160,000 h.p. turbine in the base
of the power house to a 120,000 k.w. generator directly
above. Eighteen 54" bolts join the three sections with
75-inch flanges.
