One of the most imposing edifices in Little Rock,
is the new $13,000,000 University of Arkansas
Medical Center, at 4301 West Markham Street.
This sizeable investment in the state's medical
care program was authorized by the 1951 and
1953 legislatures which financed the Center's
construction with passage of a cigarette tax.
The Center now consists of the University Hospi-
tal and the Educational Wing which houses the
Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing.
