Okefenokee Swamp Park has been developed by the
Okefenokee Association, Inc., which was organized as a
non-profit civic association by the Waycross and Ware
County Chamber of Commerce. The Great Swamp is
the largest "preserved" fresh water swamp in the eastern
United States--its area is approximately 400,000 acres.
Located in southeast Georgia, just above the Florida
line, in Ware, Charlton and Clinch counties--the famous
Suwannee River rises in Okefenokee. Boardwalks pene-
trating deep into the cypress wonderland, and 75-foot
observation tower overlooking the swamp-land and orig-
inal Seminole Trail.
