Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., con-
ducted by the Jesuit fathers, and named for the
great Jesuit missionary and explorer; chartered in
1864 and opened in 1881, has grown into one
of the greatest of midwestern educational institu-
tions, with an enrollment of more than 4,000
students. The Gesu Church and Science Hall is
shown at the top; the Gymnasium in the center;
and the Medical School at the bottom.
