JACKSON. Robert Edward Lee, one
"STONEWALL"
of the greatest generals the country has ever known, was born
at Stratford, Va. on Jan, 19th, 1807, He served in the Mexican
War, and during the Civil War, was at the head of the Confederate
Army. He died on Oct. 12th, 1870. Thomas J. ("Stonewall")
Jackson was born at Clarksburg, Va. on Jan. 21st, 1824. Like
Lee, he was in the Mexican War, and while lieutenant-general
in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, was unintentionally
shot by his own men, and died on May 10th, 1863.
