From a small one-story adobe building on the
corner of Dwyer Avenue and Main Plaza, the
Post Office has successively outgrown five dif-
ferent structures, until today it is housed in its
latest and most impressive home, the new $2,-
000,000 Post Office Building on Alamo Plaza.
Hardly 100 yards away, rise the outer walls of
the historic Alamo, shrine of Texas liberty. The
very proximity of these two structures, symbols
of the old and the new, impresses on the visitor
the incredible and breathtaking story of the
growth of Texas.
