"SCOTTISH CLANS."
Raphael Tuck & Sons' "OILETTE" Postcard 9559.
ART PUBLISHERS TO THEIR MAJESTIES THE KING & QUEEN.
By Appointment.
The Clan Gunn. Specially noted for their warlike spirit.
Their seat of power was in the county of Caithness, and they
engaged in fierce feuds with their neighbours, the Keiths
and the Mackays. They are stated to be descended from
the Norse kings of Man, about the time of Alexander II.
Their power was gradually broken after repeated attacks.
Some of the clan took part in the Continental wars under
Gustavus Adolphus with much distinction. Their badge
was "Juniper.'
