along the south bank of the Potomac River in
Shepherdstown, W. Va. The oldest town in W.
Va., which was founded in 1762. In the dis-
tance can be seen South Mountain part of the
Appalachian chain extending from
Georgia. The Potomac River divides W. Va.
from Maryland along its entire course.
