Operation PAR Inc., Alpha Program
Additional Details:
Nancy Reagan, at Pinellas Park, joins fourth and fifth grades, their teachers, counselors, and parents as they told of the differences the Alpha Program has made in the lives of children, especially in raising their self esteem. Mrs. Reagan advised the 20 or so students to "realize that you are a person unto yourself and your own self-worth is really important." She has wholeheartedly supported the exemplary drug prevention programs in the nation. Here she demonstrates one of the first and most powerful activities in any drug program - listening, and then listening some more. The First Lady had warm press comments about her crusade against drugs and her grandmother's program. February 15, 1982.
