A magical holiday season at the Executive Mansion began as
the first snow of the winter - 6 inches of it drifted down,
blanketing the White House Grounds. The White House so-
cial calendar was crowded with events, among them a ball for
members of Congress, a party for the children of foreign
diplomats, and receptions for the Secret Service, the White
House staff and the press. Shown here is a return favorite,
Aileen Quinn of "Annie" and her dog Sandy, and our First
Lady dressed in her becoming "Nancy Reagan red!"
