The Cape Cod Canal extends from Sandwich
to Buzzards Bay and is 8 miles in length. It
was 5 years in building, and cost $12,000,000.
A saving of 60 miles or more is made on the
course between New York and Boston. It is
now owned by the U. S. Government.
